Estoy en Sevilla!

Well, I am officially THE worst blogger there is...making empty promises and such! I had every intention of writing about my time in Peru but to be quite honest, writing blog posts do not come easily for me. It's not something that I always want to do but I know someday I will be happy I did. So from this point forward no more promises. I will post when I can and when I feel motivated (like today for instance).

I am now in Seville, Spain. It is in the south of Spain so it is VERY hot! My reception here has been infinitely better than in France. I have been busy with orientation every day since I arrived. Strangely though, I think I miss Aix more than I miss home, though I know that soon enough I will long for Seville. I am staying with a host-family this time around. I am living with an older couple who's names are Dioni and Antonio. They have been so gracious to me! Evidently I am their 39th student that they have hosted so this isn't their first rodeo by any means. I haven't actually gotten to taking pictures so I don't have any of my room. Hopefully I will get to that tomorrow when I have more free time.

Last night was really neat. I saw my first (and hopefully not last) Flemenco show. It was incredible! So full of intensity and passion. Basically that sums up my week so far. The Spaniards are so passionate about everything: life, their city, politics, you name it they can get passionate about it. This is such a contrast from the French way of life, much more reserved. There are actually a lot more differences between Seville and Aix than I expected. The climate alone is much different. (Unfortunately there is much more humidity here). Also the architecture is very different, so walking down the street doesn't have the same feel, in a way it is much brighter! There are also so many young children, babies, and pregnant women here!!! There were hardly any in Aix. Now this is not to say that I have made any judgments on which culture I prefer yet. I can only make that call at the end of my time here.

I am excited for the semester ahead and cannot wait to start some new adventures!! I would appreciate all of your prayers. Hasta luego!

  1. You have got to love the passion, now only if they were that passionate about sharing the gospel. We are praying for you dear niece.
