Dying to Live

So for this trip we will be working through the book Dying to Live by Clayton King with our students during devotion time. So myself and two other leaders sat down to talk about the book and create discussion questions for the other leaders in our group to use. So I am going to talk about what "dying to live" means to me.

The Christian faith is all about paradoxes. (The first being last, death creating life, etc) The fact that we have to die in order To live is one of them. But what exactly are we dying to? We have to die to our materialism, our insecurity, our pride, basically our pursuit of a meaningless life. We have to be nailed to the cross with Jesus Christ and start following God's call to a purposeful life.

Albert Pine once said "What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world, is and remains immortal." I would tweak this quote just a bit to say "What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for God and His kingdom, is and remains eternal." If you were to die today what legacy would you be leaving? How we live is how we die. So make sure you die doing something with eternal value!

Will you live a God focused life?
Will you do work for the kingdom?
Will you spread the Good News to the ends of the earth?
Will you die?
