I made my way to luggage claim and found some others wearing blue shirts, my welcoming committee! Everyone was really nice on the drive to Ft Lauderdale. But I was the only newcomer so they all talked about the trips they had been on. For one girl this is her 6th trip.
The moment we arrived commenced a long period of waiting. They didn't have my room ready until 5 and I got to the hotel at 12. I did go out to lunch at a place called Firehouse Subs. The people were soooo nice and they had a soda dispenser with 120 flavors!
When I got to my room I took a nap and then we went to our first session of leader training. Afterwards me and some other girls went to Coldstone for ice cream. Overall the first day was uneventful but everyone has been so so nice!
I can already tell that my lesson on this trip is most likely going to be humility. I'm kind of scared of how God is going to teach me that but I know it will be for my good.
Today we got up had breakfast and then had a worship service. We then did some more leader training. Most of it was common sense and stuff I already know. I also decided I am quite liberal especially when it comes to dress code. But I will respect the rules while I'm here.
Now I have some free time before I meet with my team (who I love!!!) Then tomorrow the students come and the real fun begins!!
